Local Removals by Dracott & Fennemore

Dracott & Fennemore moves homes and businesses across Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and the Hampshire borders. We run three depots, so the crew handling your move is never far away: Colnbrook for the Thames Valley and south Bucks, Weybridge for north Surrey, and Guildford for west Surrey and beyond. Every move gets the same care, whichever depot it runs from. Removals, packing, storage, shipping and art handling are all planned by one team.

If you can’t see your town below, get in touch. We cover the whole of the UK and move clients overseas.

Windsor and Ascot

Windsor, Old Windsor, Eton, Datchet, Dorney, Ascot and Wentworth

Dracott & Fennemore plans moves around the different access conditions across Windsor, Ascot and the surrounding villages. In Windsor and Eton, the route between two nearby properties is not always straightforward: Windsor Bridge is pedestrianised, so a removal vehicle needs an alternative river crossing. Establishing a suitable loading point is equally important for properties near the historic town centres.

For homes in Old Windsor, Datchet and Dorney, we check the approach to the property, entrance width and distance from the vehicle to the door. A riverside setting or generous garden does not necessarily mean there is room for a large lorry to turn.

Around Ascot, race meetings are another consideration when agreeing arrival times. On the Wentworth estate, where most roads are private, we assess driveway access, gates and turning space rather than assuming a large property can accommodate a large vehicle. Any relevant estate requirements should be confirmed before moving day.

South Buckinghamshire

Iver, Fulmer, Stoke Poges, Farnham Royal, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles

Housing across South Buckinghamshire calls for more than one approach to moving home. Beaconsfield Old Town and the historic centre of Chalfont St Giles have a different layout from the larger detached properties found elsewhere in the area. For an older home, the survey needs to consider internal access as carefully as parking, including doorways, staircase turns and the route for substantial furniture.

At properties in Iver, Fulmer, Stoke Poges and Farnham Royal, we assess the actual approach road and driveway, including overhanging branches, narrow gateways and shared access where present. A long drive can still leave a considerable carrying distance if the removal vehicle cannot safely reach the house.

Across Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield and the Chalfonts, please include garages, lofts, garden buildings and outdoor furniture in the survey. These spaces can add considerably to the load. We plan packing and loading around the full contents, with boxes labelled for their destination rooms and essential items identified for easy access.

Thames Valley

Maidenhead, Marlow, Wooburn Green and Henley-on-Thames

River crossings are an important part of planning a Thames Valley move. Marlow Bridge has vehicle restrictions, so the most direct route shown for a car may not suit a removal lorry. We plan an appropriate approach to the property and check any restrictions affecting the chosen route.

In Henley, the Royal Regatta brings temporary traffic arrangements, including a town-centre one-way system. If your move coincides with the event, collection and delivery timings need to account for those arrangements and access to your particular street.

For Maidenhead and Wooburn Green, we establish whether loading will take place on a driveway, from the street or through a shared access point. Where the main lorry cannot get close enough, we can assess whether a smaller shuttle vehicle is needed. This is agreed during planning, with the additional handling and time accounted for.

West London

Chiswick

Chiswick includes distinct neighbourhoods, from Bedford Park and the streets around Chiswick High Road to Grove Park and the riverside at Strand-on-the-Green. The practical question for each move is where the vehicle can load and how furniture will travel between that point and the property.

For a terraced house, we check front steps, hallway widths and staircase turns before deciding whether larger furniture needs dismantling. At a flat, lift dimensions, shared corridors and any building management requirements become part of the plan.

Around Grove Park and Strand-on-the-Green, local access controls also need checking before the route is agreed. Please tell us about rear access, shared passageways or an entrance away from the main road, as the postcode alone may not identify the most suitable loading point.

Weybridge and Walton

Weybridge, St George’s Hill, Brooklands, Walton-on-Thames, Hersham, Byfleet, West Byfleet and Wisley

Dracott & Fennemore plans moves across this area around the property’s actual access, from homes near Weybridge town centre to private estates and riverside addresses. At St George’s Hill, we arrange entry with the estate office ahead of moving day and confirm any requirements affecting the crew and vehicles. Within the property, gate width, sloping drives and turning space all help determine where the lorry can safely load.

For homes beside the Thames in Walton or near the Wey Navigation around Weybridge and Byfleet, we establish the vehicle approach rather than relying on how close the property appears to the road. A waterside entrance or footpath may be convenient on foot but unsuitable for bringing furniture through. The Wey Navigation runs through this area, making the precise collection address and access route important planning details.

Across Brooklands, Hersham and West Byfleet, we assess shared parking, driveways and communal entrances according to the property. For addresses around Wisley Lane, we also check the current approach: access arrangements near RHS Wisley have changed with the A3 junction improvements, so older directions may no longer be suitable.

Esher, Cobham and Oxshott

Esher, Cobham, Stoke D’Abernon and Oxshott

The Fairmile estate in Cobham and the Crown Estate in Oxshott are useful examples of why a substantial house still needs a careful access survey. At properties with long drives, mature planting or gated entrances, we check overhead clearance, the approach angle and space to turn before selecting the vehicle. These established residential estates have a different layout from the historic surroundings of Stoke D’Abernon.

In Esher, Sandown Park’s entrance is on Portsmouth Road, close to the High Street. For moves using this approach, race and event days are worth checking when setting arrival times, particularly where loading or key collection must happen within a fixed window.

Inside larger homes, the survey covers more than the main living spaces. Garden rooms, garages, lofts and outdoor furniture all need to be included, alongside any dismantling and reassembly. If refurbishment is continuing at the destination, we can plan storage and staged delivery, keeping the belongings you need immediately separate from those arriving later.

Virginia Water and Sunningdale

Virginia Water, Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Windlesham and Winkfield

Virginia Water’s Wentworth estate brings specific access considerations, with private roads and estate requirements that need checking before the move. A wide frontage does not necessarily provide a suitable loading position, so we assess the driveway and confirm where vehicles can stand without obstructing neighbouring entrances or using estate verges.

For moves around Sunningdale and Sunninghill, we consider nearby Ascot race meetings when planning the journey. In Windlesham and Winkfield, a property approached along a village lane or set back behind gates needs its own route assessment, including passing space and the distance furniture must be carried.

Fine furniture, artwork and antiques receive individual attention during the survey. Rather than treating every valuable piece alike, we identify the wrapping, crating and handling each requires, including protection for frames, glass and delicate finishes. An inventory records the items being moved, with checks at collection and delivery, whether everything travels directly to the new home or spends time in storage.

Guildford and the Surrey Hills

Guildford, Normandy, Bramley, Godalming, Milford and Dorking

Dracott & Fennemore plans moves across this area with both town-centre access and rural approaches in mind. Guildford High Street has timed vehicle restrictions, so a property above a shop or reached from the historic centre may need a carefully scheduled collection. We check the available loading point and the route between the vehicle and your door before agreeing the arrangements.

For homes around Bramley and Dorking, a countryside setting can mean sloping drives, overhanging trees or lanes with limited passing space. At the survey, we assess these features where present, alongside steps, low doorways and staircase turns inside older properties. A route that works for a car is not automatically suitable for a fully loaded removal lorry.

Across Normandy, Godalming and Milford, we also establish whether furniture will leave through the front entrance, a side passage or a garden access point. Please include garages, workshops and garden buildings in the survey, particularly where their contents need collecting from a different part of the property.

Woking and Chobham

Woking, Chobham, Pirbright and Bagshot

An apartment move in central Woking needs a different plan from a village house move in Chobham or Pirbright. For flats, we confirm the correct vehicle entrance, loading arrangements and whether a lift must be reserved. The building’s postal address may lead to a reception entrance rather than the place where the crew should unload.

Chobham and Pirbright both have historic conservation areas, while Bagshot retains an older village centre alongside its newer housing. When moving from an older cottage or converted property, we check the internal route for beds, wardrobes and sofas before deciding what needs dismantling.

At outlying properties, the survey also covers approach lanes, gate openings and the distance from a safe parking position to the house. If access is shared, we agree a loading position that allows neighbours to enter and leave, rather than assuming the driveway can be occupied throughout the move.

Berkshire and North Hampshire

Bracknell, Wokingham, Finchampstead, Farnborough and Hook

Moves across this area range from town-centre apartments to family houses on newer developments and properties on the rural edges of Finchampstead and Hook. On an estate, allocated parking may be separate from the front door, while a shared drive or parking court may leave little room for a lorry to turn. We establish where loading can take place and discuss any arrangements needed with neighbours or managing agents.

For central Wokingham addresses around Market Place, Peach Place and Elms Field, we check the vehicle approach separately from pedestrian access. A convenient walking route through the centre does not necessarily provide a suitable way to bring a removal vehicle close to the property.

In Farnborough, the International Airshow is an additional consideration when planning a move during the event. Increased traffic and local traffic-management measures can affect the journey, so we check the arrangements relevant to your address rather than relying on normal travel times.

Farnham and the Hampshire–Sussex Border

Farnham, Liphook, Liss, Petersfield and Petworth

Farnham’s historic centre includes streets where the loading position needs particular attention. For a property on or near the older town-centre roads, we establish whether access is directly from the street or through a courtyard, passage or rear entrance. This helps us allow for the carrying distance and protect furniture through narrower doorways.

Moving towards Liphook, Liss and Petersfield, we plan the final approach as carefully as the main journey. For rural addresses, please identify the correct gate or driveway and mention any narrow lanes, sharp bends or restricted turning space. A postcode can cover more than one entrance, making clear directions especially useful.

Petworth and the surrounding South Downs bring a further mix of historic town properties and countryside homes. We assess the access at each address and allow time for careful handling where older layouts make moving large pieces more involved.

Where the load, journey and key-release arrangements allow, collection and delivery can be planned for the same day. For larger moves or properties requiring more packing and handling, we discuss a longer schedule in advance so unloading is not rushed at the end of the day.
